Most of us have spaces in our house that we would love to update or even demo and start over with. However, the reality for many of us is that the time, money and stress of a full scale renovation is simply not practical, affordable or manageable. When a full scale renovation isn’t on the cards, simple changes can make a big difference to the look and feel of neglected spaces in our homes, and can be easier on our wallets, schedules and stress levels than full scale renovations.
Bathrooms are the spaces clients contact us about most often when they are looking for a wallet-friendly freshen up. Simple changes, like swapping out dated bathroom fittings and fixtures for more modern options, or updating walls with a fresh paint color, can change the look and feel of a tired bathroom. With minimal demolition, a tile change can take your powder room from painful on the eyes to pinterest-ready.
For a recent client at Smith Mountain Lake, a budget-friendly update was our brief. The existing bathroom hadn’t changed since the home was built in the Nineties, and featured a jetted bath, separate shower insert and aging lvt. Moving services and changing the tub were outside the clients budget and time scale. Working within both, the team at MacMackin & Son Heritage Home Repairs was able to replace the dated shower insert with a simple subway tile, update the small laminate vanity with a pedestal sink, swap the lvt for a budget friendly penny tile, and add board and batten detailing to the walls.
This was a great example of minimal demo for maximum impact. If you are interested in updating a tired space in your home, get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
